Summary:
The Employment Navigator will facilitate job development and placement services for individuals seeking employment.
The populations served will include persons who are unhoused (homeless), formerly justice involved individuals, veterans, persons living with disabilities and/or chronic health conditions, individuals who are fleeing domestic violence situations, seniors and persons who are parenting and other underserved groups.
The Employment Navigator will work closely with job seekers to identify suitable job opportunities, assist with job applications, and provide support throughout the hiring process.
This role involves building relationships with local employers to create job opportunities and ensuring job seekers are matched with appropriate positions.
The Employment Navigator must be a proactive and collaborative team member, utilizing creative problem-solving skills to support clients effectively.
The position requires a commitment to the mission and values of Lighthouse Social Service Centers.
DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
1.
Facilitates Job Development:
Identifies and creates job opportunities for clients by developing relationships with local employers and understanding their hiring needs.
2.
Supports Job Seekers:
Assists clients with job searches, application processes, and interview preparation to enhance their employment prospects.
3.
Builds Employer Partnerships:
Establishes and maintains strong relationships with employers to secure job placements and understand their workforce requirements.
4.
Provides Career Counseling:
Offers individualized career counseling to help clients set employment goals, identify skills, and navigate career pathways.
5.
Monitors Employment Outcomes:
Tracks and evaluates clients' employment progress, providing ongoing support and adjustments as needed to ensure job retention and success.
6.
Educates Clients and Staff:
Provides information and training to clients and program staff on job search strategies, employment resources, and labor market trends.
7.
Maintains Accurate Records:
Keeps detailed records of client interactions, job placements, and employer contacts to ensure comprehensive tracking and reporting.
8.
Complies with Policies and Procedures:
Adheres to organizational policies and procedures while providing services to clients.
9.
Performs Other Duties:
Completes additional tasks as assigned to support the goals and objectives of the Employment Services program.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year experience in job development, employment services, or related human services field.
b.
Knowledge of Employment Services:
Familiarity with job market trends, employment resources, and career development strategies.
c.
Strong Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and employers.
d.
Organizational Skills:
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
e.
Decision-Making Skills:
Demonstrated decision-making abilities and sound judgment in supporting clients through the employment process.
f.
Computer Proficiency:
Proficiency in using computer applications and databases related to job development and client tracking (Excel, Microsoft Office, Adobe, PowerPoint, etc.
).
g.
Cultural Competency:
Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of cultural differences in the workplace.
h.
Valid Driver's License:
Valid driver's license and insurable with significant travel required.
i.
Field Work:
Ability to meet with clients in various locations, including their homes, community centers, and public spaces.
