The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding practices, as well as experience in a medical office setting.
Duties Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services rendered.
Obtain necessary authorizations for procedures and treatments from insurance providers.
Review and interpret medical records to ensure accurate coding and billing.
Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to resolve discrepancies.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Update and maintain electronic medical records with accurate insurance information.
Collaborate with the billing department to address any issues related to claims processing.
Skills Proficiency in medical terminology and coding practices, including ICD-10.
Familiarity with managed care processes and insurance verification procedures.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate records.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and providers.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team within a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality is upheld.
Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred.
