0 Plant City, FL Plant City, FL Full-time Full-time $88,000 - $100,000 a year $88,000 - $100,000 a year SAFETY DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION This position will be for our sister company Esterline Construction who builds our multifamily apartment communities.
The Safety Director will be responsible for ensuring we are compliant and up to safety standards for all Esterline Construction projects and entities.
The responsibilities will include:
Develop and manage the safety program across all entities.
Manage and participate with management in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for our safety programs; oversee and coordinate safety program activities; ensure compliance with OSHA; work with employees, subcontractors and vendors to correct deficiencies; conduct safety inspections; respond to complaints of safety hazards; oversee and/or conduct safety training and committees; review and update all work plans, OSHA related programs and policies as necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and support the company's formal safety program, processes, and initiatives that are updated based on company needs and changing safety requirements.
Maintain documentation & records in compliance with OSHA regulations and reporting standards.
Review OSHA related programs and policies, as necessary.
Outline, update and implement OSHA programs and policies.
Conduct daily inspections of job sites and company facilities to:
Ensure compliance with current safety standards, Identify and correct unsafe conditions and work practices, & Work with employees to correct deficiencies.
Maintain complete records of inspections, deficiencies and corrective actions taken.
Facilitate safety, driver and environmental training for all new hires, current crew members and field management.
Coordinate outsourcing of training where appropriate.
Manage and have oversight of weekly Safety Meeting Program with field employees.
Maintain complete record of all training, document employee attendance and provide certification cards where appropriate.
Review for compliance and maintain employee and subcontractor safety handbooks, training records, documents, and certifications.
Investigate and analyze incident reports and complaints involving work-related injuries and illness; prepare reports noting hazards, violations, and accidents; recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
Manage the company's hazardous material disposal program.
Manage the company's DOT compliance programs Participate in and attend industry related conferences as appropriate.
Ensure company compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
Conduct, document, and track toolbox talks, JHA, and JSA internally and with subcontractors.
Provide and document daily equipment checks on all company owned and rented equipment.
Provide safety training and orientations to all construction personnel, including employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
SWPPP inspections and reporting.
Check and sign off all scaffolding and stair tower for safe usage daily.
Check and maintain job-site handrails and barricades daily.
Maintain job-site and office labor / safety boards and signage.
Maintain company safety manuals and safety data sheets.
Develop and implement emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
Conduct drills to ensure that all personnel are familiar with emergency protocols as needed.
Order safety materials as needed.
Issue safety hazards, violations, etc.
on Procore.
Monitor and enforce the use of appropriate PPE on the construction site.
Ensure the availability and proper maintenance of safety equipment.
Promote a safety culture by facilitating open communication between workers and management regarding safety concerns and suggestions.
Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging safety trends.
Suggest and implement improvements to enhance safety procedures and protocols.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Proven experience as a Safety Manager or relevant role Functional experience in Construction Industry, multifamily experience a plus Relevant safety certifications (e.
g.
, Certified Safety Professional - CSP) preferred.
OSHA 500/501A certification preferred, and up to date on current regulations and reporting requirements.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Personal integrity and professional discretion in all things Must have a valid Driver's License Job Type:
