Santa Paula ### General Requirements - Experience working with TK-8th grade students - Reliable transportation - Punctual, enthusiastic, responsible, resourceful, and flexible - Dedicated to supporting children from diverse backgrounds and academic levels - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment ### Knowledge and Skills - Basic principles of child development - Safe practices in classroom and outdoor activities - Classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct - Basic record-keeping skills - Proficient in English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary - Strong oral and written communication skills - Familiarity with program policies and procedures - Competence in using computers and relevant software - Interpersonal skills characterized by tact, patience, and courtesy - Knowledge of health and safety regulations - Extensive knowledge of the subject matter ### Essential Duties - Excellent communication skills - Build positive relationships with students - Demonstrate strong leadership and a commitment to educating and empowering youth - Proficient in age-appropriate classroom and behavior management techniques - Assist with daily attendance - Transport supplies to and from school sites - Serve as a role model and promote positive social behavior among children - Operate various office and audiovisual equipment - Ensure student health and safety by adhering to established practices, preparing incident reports as necessary, and maintaining a clean environment - Independently lead groups of up to 14-20 students from TK-8th grade - Attend teacher training to learn Classroom Management techniques - Arrive on time and provide a safe, engaging, and enjoyable class experience for students - Use creativity to think critically under time constraints - Review and effectively implement curriculum during prep time ### Physical Demands - Dexterity to operate standard office and classroom equipment - Ability to sit or stand for extended periods - Bending, kneeling, or crouching to assist students - Visual acuity to read materials and monitor student activities - Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively ### Work Environment - Classroom and outdoor settings - Subject to interruptions ### Other Requirements - Successful completion of a background check and TB test is required for employment - Must be able to walk, run, and jump, as this role involves working with children - Completion of required online paid training through the Department of Social Services within 90 days of hire ### How to Apply To apply, please submit a resume and cover letter detailing your experience in Science and teaching.
