Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation at the request of a licensed Radiologist. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of procedures. The radiographic procedures and related techniques include the discipline of Diagnostic Radiology.n nn n The value you'll bring to the team:n nn nnnPerforms radiographic/imaging procedures under the guidance of a Radiologic Technologist.n nAssists licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiology procedures.n nPerforms other related duties as required an deemed necessary per Radiology Director.n nFollows the Standard of Behavior guidelines per hospital policy.n nPrepares patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.n nMaintains knowledge of and observes universal precautions.n nDemonstrates commitment of personal and professional development and pursues appropriate continuing education.n nUnderstands and supplies patient relation skills.n nIncorporates patient, physician, customer needs and concerns into decision-making and organizational action.n nPositions patients to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient's ability and comfort.n nImmobilizes patient as required for appropriate examination,n nApplies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. Includes x-ray energy safety.n nPresent radiographs to a registered technologist for evaluation of images/radiographs, assuring proper identification is recordedn nAssumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.n nPractices aseptic techniques as necessary.n nPrepares for sterile procedures.n nInitiates basic life support action when necessary and exhibits knowledge and skills for monitoring patient vital signs and assessment, knowing when to notify a radiology nurse or radiologist of patient condition or need to initiate Code Blue.n nProvides patient education and is responsible for establishing whether female patients are or could be pregnant.n nAssumes responsibility for assigned area and reports equipment malfunctions.n nCorrelates patient's clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by licensed practitioner.n nDetermines radiographic imaging technique and exposure factors under the guidance of a radiologic technologist.n nPursues ARRT registration and appropriate continuing education.n nAssists in maintaining records, respecting confidentiality and established policy.n nFollows AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank) at all times.n nOperates Cerner System proficiently, trouble shoots problems with orders and makes corrections within scope of user level.n nSelects and operates radiology equipment, imaging and/or associate accessories to successfully perform procedures, and devises a plan of action that considers patient condition and diagnosis and demonstrates decision making and assessment skills.n nPerforms non-interpretive fluoroscopic procedures as appropriate (i.e., ERCP, OR procedures, patient status check, foreign body/metal check).n nUnder guidance of registered technologist, evaluates images for technical quality, manipulates display parameters, assuring proper identification is recorded as specified by imaging procedure.n nEffectively implements assigned projects and responsibilitiesn nn nnn Qualificationsn n The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:n nn n EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:n nn nnnCurrently Enrolled in or a recent Graduate of a Technical Schooln nNo Previous Experience Requiredn nn nnn LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:n nn nnnNational Registry - ARRT within 1 year of employmentn nKansas LRT License after obtaining ARRT Certificationn nBCLS obtained through the American Heart Associationn nn nnn This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
