50 an hour 2 days ago 2 days ago 2 days ago PRIMARY FUNCTION Under the supervision of the Mayor, employees in this position perform a variety of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, facilities and tools.
Additionally, employees handle a variety of materials, conduct clean-up activities and general maintenance of City right-of-way and related utilities with demonstrative ability in the following specialized areas:
i) plowing snow and applying de-icing material to roadways/parking lots; ii) maintaining roadways by repairing slips, cracks and pot holes or applying new asphalt; iii) maintaining municipal-wide facilities including park grounds; iv) mowing City rights-of-way along roadways and other public property; v) collecting litter; vi) inspecting, reporting and repairing of stormwater facilities, such as pipes, streambeds, outfalls, catch basins, etc.
; vii) controlling traffic at job sites; viii) identifying public utilities; and ix) maintaining department fleet and equipment.
Employees perform routine tasks requiring the use of acquired skills and knowledge and may not perform work in all aforementioned areas.
Assignments, most times involve working with members of a crew, and at times, working independently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES a) Performs routine maintenance, at times using a variety of equipment, including, but not limited to:
roadways, municipal facilities, park grounds and facilities, rights-of-way and other public property, stormwater facilities and fleet and equipment, etc.
b) Operates snow removal vehicles and related equipment during the winter to maintain streets and public grounds, including public parking lots, as well as repairs mailboxes damaged during snow plow operations.
c) Assists with the placement of bituminous asphalt involving patching or paving operations on roads and parking lots.
d) Assists with the placement of wet concrete involving repair or construction work.
e) Collects leaves and branches curbside of residences as scheduled.
f) Follows safety requirements, including, but not limited to:
immediately reporting all accidents, unsafe conditions, and dangerous acts to the Mayor.
g) Responds within three days to all WA one-calls by identifying and marking City utilities.
h) Completes daily work assignments by recording job assignments, performing the necessary and required work in an acceptable manner, and reporting to the Mayor the status of the assignment in addition to any issues of concerns discovered while performing assignments.
i) Responds to call-outs after normal working hours.
j) Performs all other duties as required.
